Why the advertised price is never the final price
Most clinics advertise the base procedure fee: egg retrieval, fertilisation in the laboratory, and embryo transfer. That is a real number, but it is not the whole bill. Three things are almost always billed on top.
Stimulation medication
Injectable hormones to stimulate the ovaries account for roughly 30–40% of a typical IVF bill. The dose is not standard — it depends on your age, your ovarian reserve and how your body responds. Two patients on the same protocol can have medication bills that differ by ₹40,000 or more.
ICSI, where it is indicated

Diagnostics before the cycle starts

Number of cycles

How to compare quotes between clinics
If you are weighing more than one centre, ask each of them the same five questions. The answers tell you more than the headline price:
- Does this quote include stimulation medication? If not, what is the estimated medication cost for someone with my profile?
- Is ICSI included, or billed separately if needed?
- What happens to the cost if the cycle is cancelled before retrieval?
- What does a second cycle cost — is it the same, or is there a reduced rate?

How much does a second IVF cycle cost?
It depends on whether frozen embryos from the first cycle are available. A frozen embryo transfer costs considerably less than a full fresh cycle, because retrieval and stimulation are not repeated. Ask your clinic to quote both scenarios.
What happens to the cost if a cycle is cancelled before retrieval?
Cycles are occasionally cancelled for clinical reasons, most often poor ovarian response. Charges depend on how far the cycle progressed. Ask for this to be set out in your written estimate before you begin.
